Update August 2017

Thank you to everyone who took part in the consultation on the latest proposals for Thanet Parkway railway station.  We consulted for 8 weeks from 25th January until 19th March 2017 and received a total of 355 responses.  The full Consultation Report summarising the results of the consultation is now available to download from the ‘Summary of Results’ section below.

The overall majority of respondents expressed general agreement with the proposals. A number of concerns were raised in regards to the proposed road access, pedestrian/cycle link to Cliffsend village, the potential for commuter parking in residential areas and user safety due to the station being unstaffed.  All comments will be considered by the project team and addressed as much as feasibly possible.  The proposals will then be revised and incorporated within the work currently being undertaken to prepare a planning application.

If you would like to keep up to date with this project, further information is available on our project page https://www.kent.gov.uk/roads-and-travel/travelling-around-kent/thanet-parkway-railway-station

Update May 2017

Thank you to everyone who took part in the consultation. We are currently analysing the responses and producing a consultation report. This report should be available summer 2017.

Original consultation text

Kent County Council (KCC) is promoting a new parkway station in Thanet on the existing rail line between Minster and Ramsgate just to the west of the village of Cliffsend.

In 2015 we ran a consultation on the initial design for a new station. Your feedback helped to inform the outline design on which we are now seeking your views.

What we are proposing and how can you find out more?

The proposed parkway station will be an unstaffed, two platform station with step-free access from ground level to both platforms and the capability to accept 12 car trains. A car park adjacent and a forecourt with bus stops, drop-off and pick-up zone, dedicated taxi area and an area for cycle storage.

More information is available in the Consultation Booklet, which is available to download from the 'Consultation Documents' section below.

We are holding six  consultation exhibitions events where members of the team will be available to answer questions.
