(20MPH, 30MPH, 40MPH, 50MPH SPEED LIMITS AND DERESTRICTED ROADS)

AMENDMENT NO.12 ORDER 2018

 

Notice is hereby given that KENT COUNTY COUNCIL hereby make the above named Order under sections 1(1), 2(1) to (3), 3(2), 4(1) and (2), 32(1), 35(1), 45, 46, 49 and 53 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, and of all other enabling powers, and after consultation with the Chief Officer of Police in accordance with Paragraph 20 of Schedule 9 to the Act:

The effect of the Order would be to introduce or reduce speed limits in the following sections of roads:

  1. To introduce a 20MPH speed limit in the following length of roads

Munsgore Lane, Borden - From 60 metres south west of the junction with School Lane to the junction with Sunnyhill Road. Sunnyhill Road, Borden - From 200 metres north of the junction with Oad Street to the junction with Munsgore Lane.

  1. To introduce a 30MPH speed limit in the following length of road

Sunnyhill Road, Borden - From the junction with Oad Street for a distance of 200 metres in a northerly direction.

  1. To introduce a 40MPH speed limit in the following length of roads

Staplehurst Road, Sittingbourne - From a point 51 metres west of the bridge over the Sittingbourne to Sheerness railway line to its junction with the Bobbing Interchange. Boyces Hill, Newington Swale - From a point 24 metres east of the common boundary of number 1 and 2 Ellens Place, Boyces Hill in an easterly direction to its connection with Keycol Hill. Keycol Hill, Newington Swale - From a point adjacent to the common boundary of the properties named Wallclea and Wakefield in a westerly direction to its connection with Boyces Hill. Sheppey Way, Bobbing - From its junction with Parsonage Lane to its junction with the Bobbing Interchange and 54 metres southwest of the bridge over the Sittingbourne to Chatham railway line.

  1. To introduce a 50MPH speed limit in the following length of road

Sheppey Way, Bobbing - From its junction with Key Street Roundabout to a point 54 metres southwest of the bridge over the Sittingbourne to Chatham railway line.

  1. To remove the 40MPH speed limit in the following length of roads

Boyces Hill, Newington Swale - From a point 24 metres east of the common boundary of numbers 1 and 2 Ellens Place, Boyces Hill in an easterly direction to its junction with Rook Lane. Keycol Hill, Bobbing - From its junction with Rook Lane south eastwards for a distance of 271 metres. Sheppey Way, Bobbing - From its junction with Parsonage Lane southwards for a distance of 530 metres. Staplehurst Road, Bobbing - From its junction with Bobbing Interchange eastwards for a distance of 50 metres.

  1. To remove the 50MPH speed limit in the following length of road

Staplehurst Road, Sittingbourne - From a point 357 metres west of its junction with Windmill Road to appoint 50 metres east of its junction with the Bobbing Interchange.

The Order was made on 22 July 2019 and its provisions will come into effect on 29 July 2019.

A copy of the Order, statement of the Council’s reasons for making the Order, a map indicating the location and the effect and a copy of any Orders which will be amended by the Order may be examined on Monday to Friday at The Kent County Council, Sessions House, Maidstone, ME14 1XQ; The Kent County Council, Highways Transportation & Waste, Ashford Highway Depot, Henwood Industrial Estate, Unit 4 Javelin Way, Ashford, Kent TN24 8AD during normal office hours or viewed online at www.consultations.kent.gov.uk

 

Anyone may, by application to the High Court within 6 weeks of the date of publication of this Notice, challenge the validity of the Orders or of any provision contained in them on the grounds that it is not within the powers conferred by the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, or any instrument made thereunder, or that there has been a failure to comply with any statutory requirement to the Orders.
