Update December 2020

Setting the Course, our Interim Strategic Plan for 2021 and the first half of 2022 was approved at County Council on the 10 December 2020. It is available to view here:  www.kent.gov.uk/about-the-council/strategies-and-policies/corporate-policies/interim-strategic-plan.

We will continue to listen to the views and ideas of residents in order to shape our priorities and plans longer term.

Update September 2020

We have carefully analysed the responses to the 5 Year Plan consultation. Unfortunately due to the huge and unprecedented impact of the Coronavirus crisis, it has been necessary to pause the development of the 5 Year Plan while we take stock of the new circumstances that Kent is faced with in responding to and recovering from the pandemic.

The priorities that came out from the 5 Year Plan consultation remain highly relevant and will continue to inform our future thinking and planning. An Interim Strategic Plan is due to be presented to County Council later in the year, which will set out more detail about our short-term objectives. We will continue to listen to the views and ideas of residents in order to shape our priorities and plans going forward and all consultation opportunities will be advertised on our website and here in the consultation directory.

The 5 Year Plan is the flagship strategy for Kent County Council. It unites the Council with clear outcomes and objectives.

The 5 Year Plan has been brought together by working with and listening to our residents, young people, local businesses, the voluntary and community sector and staff. We’ve reflected what we heard during our engagement process in this draft consultation document.

The consultation will run from 6 January to 17 February 2020.

What happens after the consultation?

Following the end of the consultation we will bring together a ‘You Said, We Did’ report which will include an analysis of the engagement and consultation feedback and KCC’s response to this. This will be published on the consultation website. This report will be presented to our Corporate Management Team, our Cabinet and County Council in February and March 2020 as part of the approval process.

We will also be bringing together a shorter summary document of this 5 year plan.
