Original Text

The Beacon Folkestone (TBF) is a special school supports pupils with Profound, Severe and Complex Needs. The Governing Body of TBF are proposing to open a satellite provision at Castle Hill Primary School, a mainstream primary school in Folkestone. The satellite provision will be for up to 10 children with identified needs requiring specialist educational provision. Students are enrolled at the TBF but are educated on the Castle Hill site by the TBF school’s staff, either in the dedicated satellite space, or in the mainstream school’s classroom for some joint activities.  Their personalised timetables see them accessing their education in the most appropriate environment, supported by highly trained staff from the special school.

This proposal, together with other increases in pupil numbers at TBF, requires the Local Authority to formally increase the ‘designated pupil number’ of TBF from 336 to 380.

The Governors at TBF are bringing forward this proposal with the support of the staff and governors at both schools and Kent County Council (KCC), as the Strategic Commissioner of Education Provision in the County.

We will be holding a meeting at the Castle Hill Community Primary School on 13th February 2019 at 2.00pm, where you will have the opportunity to ask questions.
