Update 28/03/17 - Not progressing to Public Notice

In order for the proposal to expand Wickhambreaux CE Primary School to continue, the school required a small extension to the existing buildings to create a larger class room and a dedicated staff room.  Following discussions with Planning Officers and detailed consideration of the objections received to the Planning application, in particular those relating to the sustainability of the proposal under planning policy and the National Planning Policy Framework, it was considered that the Local Authority were unable to sufficiently rebut all the points of objections received.   The proposal remains a strong one from the perspective of education policy; the DfE encourages the expansion of Outstanding and Good schools in order to benefit the local area and respond to parental demand.  Having considered all options and the unique circumstances of this case, the Local Authority has decided to withdraw the application and will not be proceeding with the formal expansion of Wickhambreaux CE Primary School.
