(20MPH, 30MPH, 40MPH, 50MPH SPEED LIMITS AND DERESTRICTED ROADS) AMENDMENT No.18 ORDER 2019

 

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984

 

Notice is hereby given that KENT COUNTY COUNCIL has made the above-named Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, and of all other enabling powers, and after consultation with the chief officer of police in accordance with Part III of Schedule 9 to the Act:

After reviewing the crash and injury data at the junctions with A274 Headcorn Road/Frittenden Road and Bell Lane, Kent County Council in consultation with Kent Police have made the decision to realign Bell Lane at its junction with Headcorn Road.

In addition to the remedial measures, Kent County Council in the above-named Order will lower the Derestricted Speed Limit to 50MPH Speed Limit and reduce the lengths of the Derestricted Speed Limits in the following roads or lengths of roads in the Parish of Biddenden, for safety reasons;

  • 1. The effect of the Order would be to lower the speed limit to 50MPH in the following roads or lengths of road:
  • Bell Lane - from its junction with Headcorn Road to a point 209 metres northeast of that junction. Frittenden Road -, from its junction with Headcorn Road to a point 50 metres southwest of that junction. Headcorn Road - from a point 99 metres south of its junction with Weeks Lane in a northwesterly direction to a point 178 metres northwest.of its junction with Bell Lane. Weeks Lane - from its junction with Headcorn Road in a southeasterly direction for a distance of 57 metres.
  • 2. The effect of the Order will be to reduce the length of the Derestricted Speed Limits in the following roads or lengths of road:      
  • Bell Lane - from a point 209 metres northeast of its junction with Headcorn Road in a generally northeasterly direction to its junction with Smarden Bell Lane. Frittenden Road - from a point 50 metres southwest of its junction with Headcorn Road in a south westerly direction to its junction with Buckhurst Lane. Headcorn Road - from a point 88 metres northeast of its junction with Cot Lane in a north westerly direction to a point 99 metres south of its junction with Weeks Lane. Weeks Lane - from a point 57 metres southeast of its junction with Headcorn Road in a southeasterly direction to its junction with Smarden Road

 

  • The Order was made on 19 August 2019 and its provisions will come into effect on 26 August 2019.

  • Anyone may, by application to the High Court within 6 weeks of the date of publication of this Notice, challenge the validity of the Orders or of any provision contained in them on the grounds that it is not within the powers conferred by the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, or any instrument made thereunder, or that there has been a failure to comply with any statutory requirement to the Orders.
