The effect of the Order would be to introduce a Margate wide 20mph speed limit on various roads. please refer to the Public Notice including Statement of Reason for details.

The Order will be implemented by the 18 September 2020 on an experimental basis for a period of eighteen months after which time it will be reviewed. The Council may then make the Order permanent or abandon it. Any existing speed limit in the list of roads above which are above 20MPH will be suspended for the duration of the Experimental Order.


The Kent County Council as traffic authority intends to make the Order referred to above and as shown on the drawing accompanying this document for the following reasons: -

  • Avoid the danger to persons or other traffic using the road or any other road or for preventing the likelihood of any such danger arising.
  • For preserving or improving the amenities of the area through which the road runs.
