The effect of the Order would be to introduce a 20mph speed limit on the following lengths of roads in Larkfield, Tonbridge and Malling:

Albion Drive, Auden Road, Austen Way, Barrie Drive, Bates Close, Bell Lane, Betjeman Close, Blackthorn Drive, Blake Drive, Bream Close, Briar Close, Bronte Close, Brookfield Avenue, Brooklands Road, Browning Close, Carroll Gardens, Chaucer Way, Chesterton Road, Chestnut Walk, Christie Drive, Coleridge Close, Cronin Close, Cygnet Close, Eagle Close, Falcon Green, Fernleigh Rise, Fielding Drive, Gighill Road, Goldfinch Close, Heron Road, Hornbeam Close, Jerome Road, Keats Road, Kingfisher Road, Kipling Drive, Laburnum Drive, Larch Close, Larkfield Close, Larkfield Road, Lower Bell Lane, Macaulay Close, Magpie Close, Maple Close, Marlowe Road, Marsh Way, Martin Square, Masefield Road, Mercer Close, Merlin Avenue, Nightingale Close, Oak Drive, Oriole Way, Osprey Walk, Partridge Avenue, Perch Close, Pine Close, Plover Road, Priestley Drive, Raven Close, Redwing Close, Reed Close, River Way, Sassoon Close, Sheldon Way, Southey Way, Springfield Road, Spruce Close, Stevenson Way, Swallow Road, Swift Close, Thackeray Road, The Ferns, The Lakes, The Rushes, Whimbrel Green, Willow Road, Wodehouse Close, Woodpecker Road and Wordsworth Way – For their entire length. Bellingham Way – From its junction with New Hythe Lane for a distance of 121 metres in a southerly direction. Leybourne Way – From its junction with New Hythe Lane for a distance of 495 metres in a westerly direction. Lunsford Lane – From its junction with London Road to its junction with Leybourne Way (including the service road). New Hythe Lane – From its junction with London Road to its junction with Papyrus Way (including access road to playing fields).


The Kent County Council as traffic authority intends to make the Order referred to above and as shown on the drawing accompanying this document for the following reasons: -

From 1 April 2013 Kent County Council become responsible for a number of Public Health functions. One of those was the health improvement for the population of Kent. In recent years the demand for the implementation of 20mph schemes had been increasing in response to both local and national campaigns, therefore Kent County Council are intending to implement 20mph Public Health Schemes in the following location, in Larkfield, Tonbridge.

In attrition, the various restrictions are to:-

  • Avoid the danger to persons or other traffic using the road or any other road or for preventing the likelihood of any such danger arising
