Introduction

Change the use of Footpath KB18 to shared use to include cycles on the following length of footpath -

From its junction with Malling Terrace to its junction with Hermitage Lane.

The Kent County Council as traffic authority intends to make the Order referred to above and as shown on the drawing accompanying this document for the following reasons :-

The Kent County Council are proposing to change the use of the footpath KB18 to shared use to include cycles along the length as described above.

  • The route will form part of a wider strategic network as it will connect to National Cycle Route 17.  It will enable residents in the vicinity of Hermitage Lane to access the town area including schools and colleges in the Queens road / Oakwood Park areas.
  • The route will provide a safer access for residents, staff and visitors wishing to cycle to the Hospital from the town centre and surrounding areas and allow the NHS Trust to promote the route for staff and visitors
