Highway Improvements in Your Area

Flete Road – 30 mph Speed Limit and Traffic Calming Measures

What are we planning to do?

KCC Highways and Transportation wish to promote the following package of highway related interventions, with the intention of managing traffic speeds along Flete Road.

This package of works would be fully funded using historic transport contributions secured from nearby housing development and at nil cost to the public purse.

Further to recent stakeholder consultation we are pleased to enclose a plan detailing the final form of traffic calming that will be delivered near your property.

The final scheme proposals consist of the following:-

  • Provision of two 30mph roundels with associated signage, at each end of the village.
  • Provision of four speed humps adjacent to existing lighting infrastructure.

Why do we want to do this work?

To manage vehicle speeds and improve safety for all road users within the built-up area of Flete Road and discourage traffic from using it as an alternative route between Margate and Westwood Cross.

When will the work start and how long will it take?

Works are due to be delivered during the 2019/2020 financial year. Further details of specific timescales will be communicated in due course.
