Update December 2019

A Consultation Report providing a summary of the feedback received is now available from the Summary of Results section below.

The revised policy, EqIA and consultation feedback was presented for consideration to the Environment and Transportation Cabinet Committee on 29 November. The Policy Statement will be adopted by the Cabinet Member for Planning, Highways, Transport and Waste in the coming weeks and will be available shortly.

This consultation has now closed.

The Drainage Planning and Policy Statement was first published in 2015 to set out how Kent County Council (KCC) as Lead Local Flood Authority and statutory consultee will review drainage strategies and surface water management provisions associated with applications for major development.

KCC have prepared a revision of the Policy Statement based upon experiences with drainage submissions since taking on the statutory consultee role. The proposed revisions also incorporate changes to National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) in 2019 and to reflect considerations within Defra’s 25-Year Environmental Plan. Specific document revisions include clarification on drainage submission requirements, addition of verification report requirements and provision for multi-functionality.

This Policy Statement has the opportunity to inform development and manage flood risk, important issues within Kent. We wish to ensure that the Policy Statement reflects our communities’ views on how development and drainage are provided so welcome comments during this consultation period.

This consultation closes on Monday 30 September 2019
