Kent County Council has received an application, on behalf of Canterbury City Council (as the local planning authority), to divert part of Public Footpath CB174, and close a very short section of Public Footpath CB173, in the parishes of Littlebourne and Ickham and Well.

Under the Town and Country Planning Act 1990, the local planning authority make an Order to close or divert a Public Footpath, Bridleway or Restricted Byway to enable development to take place. Canterbury City Council has made an Order to divert part of Public Footpath CB174 in this regard.

Under the Highways Act 1980, an Order may be made to close a Public Footpath, Bridleway or Restricted Byway where the path is not needed for public use. Kent County Council has made an Order to close a short (20 metre) section of Public Footpath CB173 which would otherwise be left as a cul-de-sac as a result of the proposals.

Further details about the Orders (including how to respond) and a plan showing the proposals can be found by viewing the documents in the section below.

Note that the deadline for responses is Monday 12 October 2020.
