Introduction

The effect of the proposed order will be to reduce the speed limit to 20MPH on the following lengths of road in Hythe in the District of Folkestone and Hythe:

Albert Lane, Albert Road, Arthur Road, Cinque Ports Avenue, Cobden Road, Elizabeth Gardens, Fishermans Beach, Lynton Road, Napier Gardens, Ormonde Road, Palmer Drive, Park Road, Portland Close, Portland Drive, Range Road, Stade Street, St Hildas Road, St Leonards Road, Theresa Road, Tower Gardens, Victoria Road, Wakefield Way, West Parade, Whitegates Close, Windmill Street And Wood Road.

From 1 April 2013 Kent County Council become responsible for a number of Public Health functions. One of those was the health improvement for the population of Kent. In recent years the demand for the implementation of 20mph schemes had been increasing in response to both local and national campaigns, therefore Kent County Council are intending to implement 20mph Public Health Schemes in the following location, in Hythe.

In addition, the various restrictions are to:

  • Avoid the danger to persons or other traffic using the road or any other road or for preventing the likelihood of any such danger arising.
