Update March 2021

Thank you to everyone who took part in the consultation on the early design options for the A229 Blue Bell Hill Junction Improvement Scheme. The Consultation Report is now available in the Summary of Results section below.

Your responses will help us to understand which of the options is most suitable to be progressed and developed as the preferred option. A second consultation will take place on more detailed designs in Summer 2022.

We are seeking your views on three design options which are part of the A229 Blue Bell Hill Junction Improvement Scheme.

These set out our initial proposals for improvements to the junctions on this important route that connects the M20 and M2.

The overall aim of the scheme is to improve journey time reliability and road safety. This will allow the road to accommodate an increase in future traffic, expected as
a result of the Lower Thames Crossing and proposed local developments, while providing suitable routes and facilities for public transport, pedestrians and cyclists.

We want to understand your views to help us determine which of the three options should be progressed as the preferred option for further development.

What happens after the consultation?

Your feedback will be reviewed and analysed following the closure of the consultation. The findings will then be compiled into a consultation report, which added to this page in December 2020.

This report will be used to inform the funding bid which is due to be submitted to the Department for Transport (DfT) before the end of the year. It will also be used to help determine which design should be chosen as the preferred option and developed further.

See exhibition board 8 or the consultation brochure for more information on the next steps and anticipated timeframes for the project.
