Update – August 2020

Following the end of the public notice period, the Cabinet Member for Children, Young People and Education, Richard Long TD, has considered the responses received and confirmed his decision will stand to make the following changes to Five Acre Wood School; to:

  • increase the Designated Number of places from 465 to 580 places from September 2020.




PUBLIC NOTICE PERIOD - 19 June 2020 to 17 July 2020

Following the end of the consultation period, Richard Long, the Cabinet Member for Education and Skills, resolved to issue a public notice regarding the increase to the Designated Number of places at Five Acre Wood School from 465 to 580 places from September 2020.

The public notice was published in a local newspaper on 19 June 2020.   The notice is displayed at all main entrances to the school. The public notice and complete proposal documents can be downloaded from the Summary of Results section below.

Within four weeks from the date of publication, any person may send in a response supporting, objecting or commenting on the proposal to Nick Abrahams, KCC Area Education, West Kent Area Office, Sessions House, County Hall, Maidstone, Kent ME14 1XQ, Tel: 03000 410058 or email school.consultations@kent.gov.uk.

The final date for sending in written representations is midnight on 17 June 2020.

Proposed change to Increase the Designated Number of places at Five Acre Wood

In response to growing pressure for SEN places in Maidstone and Tonbridge and Malling Districts, Kent County Council with support from the schools proposes to:

  • increase the designated number of places offered at Five Acre Wood School, Boughton Lane, Maidstone ME15 9QF, from 465 to 600 places (including Satellite and Nursery provision) from September 2020.

The consultation period will take place from Tuesday 3 March 2020 to Tuesday 31 March 2020 (midnight).  Following the consultation, the County Council will consider all views expressed and then make a decision on how to proceed.
