Kent County Council has received an application, and subsequently made Orders to extinguish and create part of Public Footpath ER273 at Ringwould with Kingsdown

Under the Highways Act 1980, an Order may be made to close or divert a Public Footpath, Bridleway or Restricted Byway where it is in the interests of the landowner and/or the public to do so. In considering a proposal, the County Council will have regard to whether the new route is substantially less convenient to the public and the impact of the proposed diversion on the public enjoyment of the route as a whole.

UPDATE: These Orders was confirmed on 27th April 2021 and has now taken effect

The Order came into force on the 27th April 2021, but if a person aggrieved by the Orders wants to question its validity, or that of any provision contained in it, on the ground that it is not within the powers of the Highways Act 1980, as amended, or on the ground that any requirement of the Act, as amended, or of any regulation made under the Act which has not been complied with in relation to the Orders, he or she may under Paragraph 2 of Schedule 2 to the Act as applied by Paragraph 5 of Schedule 6 to the Act, within 6 weeks from the 27th day of May 2021, make an application to the High Court.
