The effect of the Order would be to reduce the national speed limit to a 40MPH speed limit in Biddenden, Ashford on the following length of roads:

Benenden Road – From a point 7.5 metres north east of the south western boundary of the Timber Yard to a point in line with the boundary of Brass Tacks and Mannering Farmhouse. Cranbrook Road – From its junction with Benenden Road to a point 16 metres north west of the north western boundary of Birchwood House. Tenterden Road – From its junction with Benenden Road to a point 27 metres north of the northern kerb line of the driveway of The Mews.

The Kent County Council as traffic authority propose to make the Order referred to above and as shown on the drawing accompanying this document for the following reasons :-

  • For avoiding danger to persons or other traffic using the road or any other road or for preventing the likelihood of any such danger arising
  • For preserving or improving the amenities of the area through which the road runs.
